My response to Trump
This weekend, Donald Trump attacked me on Truth Social, again, calling me a “total fraud” and “radical.” He also gave his “complete and total endorsement” to his handpicked candidate Michael Whatley.
He then woke up Monday morning, opened Truth Social and continued his dishonest diatribes. This is not the first time Trump has come after me, and it won’t be the last. I just found out that he’s coming back to North Carolina next week to continue spreading more lies.
But these recent attacks tell us one very important thing: Trump knows if Democrats flip this seat, then the MAGA agenda is in trouble, and he still thinks Whatley can win this race. And he’s right.
Some national Republicans have quit concentrating on winning North Carolina. But Donald Trump is still here, still focused on North Carolina, still spreading lies about me and still propping up Whatley every chance he’s gotten.
You don’t spend that kind of energy on a race you think you’ve lost. Trump and his allies still think they can win this critical Senate seat, but we can’t let them.
Just last week, President Obama’s top strategist David Plouffe warned Democrats not to take North Carolina for granted, and that we can’t rest easy just yet.
This race is going to be a tough fight all the way until polls close, and we can’t let Trump’s attacks turn the tide against us. But people are paying attention, and national news outlets have picked up on these attacks, adding fuel to the fire.
We’ve built a strong grassroots movement that has grounded us through this campaign, and the momentum we’ve built is real. But there is no time to get comfortable, especially with Trump coming back to North Carolina on Monday.
We need to stay ahead of the lies and keep reaching voters in every corner of the state. But I can’t do that without your support. If you’re ready to fight back, please chip in $5 before our final FEC deadline TONIGHT.
Every contribution, no matter the size, tells Trump and Whatley that North Carolinians and – our people-powered movement – are strong, and we’re not going anywhere.
Thank you for standing with me.
